4Fantastic ground feel - a little bit warm on hot days.
By Tobes
I've been finding that my feet are happier with stones and gravel after years of running in VFFs and these are the next step for me in the quest to get less between my feet and the ground. The shoe is tremendously light and very flexible, and the fit is the most 'glove like' of all the VFF range. The upper is elasticated from the heel to the top of the foot, which keeps the heel from slipping. Sizing is consistent with other VFF models, perhaps slightly more snug.Ground feel is excellent - down to every smalls stone, yet I'm able to cope with sharp gravel. If you're new to running on trails with VFFs then you'd probably opt for something more solid, as there is A LOT of ground feel with these.I experienced some blistering in the inside of my instep initially, but that's settled down now. I would recommend short runs at first, so this doesn't become a big issue. If I were to criticise these shoes at all, it would be that they do get quite hot on warm days. The upper elastic material grips your foot very well, but combined with the rest of the shoe doesn't give heaps of ventilation. Compared with the Trek Sports, they feel quite close to the foot and not very breathable - after hot runs you'll definitely want to put them in the wash. For this reason, I would not recommend them for long-term casual wear.I would prefer a more airy upper, but I think without the bulk of the closure system on the other VFFs this may be a way off in terms of design. Not designed for trails but I have ran about 70km of trails in them so far and no damage and little sole wear.If you're picking up your feet well when you're running, these are fine for trails, but would probably quite easily tear if you kicked a rock or snagged a tree root. You will slip in wet mud, so get those knees extra-bent in those situations! If they're a good fit, you'll find these excellent for any kind of barefoot-friendly sports and provide fantastic ground feel. Not as great as barefoot by any means but very enjoyable.

5Best of the Best Minimalist shoes
By Noah B.
I recently wrote a review for the Merrell Vapor Gloves and deemed them one of the greatest minimal shoes available (with a few exceptions). Vibram, however, does it perfectly. Perfect ground feel, perfect fit - these are the closest you are going to get to the ground without taking off your shoes and hitting the road absolutely barefoot. Straight out of the box, I slipped the shoes on and went on a 10 mile road run, and here are my thoughts:Some have noted that the heel feels like it could potentially slip off. I didn't have this issue as the shoe, to me, always felt snug. Vibram opted to go with a strapless model closer to the Classic, which therefore results in a slightly tighter fit in the shoe. This, to some, can result in a shoe that feels too tight, or constricting. Again, I didn't have this issue. I will say that after 10 miles, the lip at the heel of the shoe 'did' slightly dig into my achilles tendon to make it a bit sore the next day. But in my opinion that is probably something that will dissipate as the shoes stretch a bit more. All in all, great minimalist shoe for weight-lifting and road running!

4I love these shoes, although I'm not much of an athlete.
By Raymond
I love these, I feel that this is what all shoes should be like. My only issue (its kind of a big one) is that they don't make this shoe in a size quite small enough for me. The smallest they have does fine, but I really want to go down a size because these move a -little- too much. But they are fantastic and comfortable (they are the only shoes I fall asleep in). Generally I wear them with performance toe socks for comfort. As a dermatophile I would warn about wearing these on long athletic treks without getting really used to them. They do rub between the toes and most people don't have much in the way of protective skin built up there. I am not a runner, but if I was I would work my way up into these shoes but have something more familiar standing by.On the whole though these shoes make me feel like I live in the future. I wish this company made gloves too.
