Great transition or Ultra Long Distance Trail Shoe
By M. R. Kanter-Cronin
So if you are looking at or thinking about the minimalist shoe movement lately, these are a good transition from a beefer heavier shoe (like Salomon Men's XA PRO 3D Ultra 2 Trail Running Shoe) to the super light weight (like Bikila LS Shoe - Men's by Vibram Fivefingers or MT10GY New Balance MT10 Men's Minimus Trail Running Shoe). I tried the La Sportiva Men's Crosslite, and I loved them, but anything over a 50K and they were a bit light weight. These 2.0 shoes are NOT a zero drop, and have more cushion. Plus the lace cover is great. These are also a bit wider than the Crosslite 1.0. The bottom tread is good and grippy except in one case: wet rocks. I would rate these shoes a 5 instead of 4, except for that fact. Good for rocks? yes! Good for technical? Yes! Good for hiking with a pack? YES! Good for dirt or mud? YES! Just don't wear them on wet rocks, and you can't go wrong with these shoes.I am ordering my second pair The first pair have done great, have four 50 mile races on them, have two small rips around the toe where the rubber meets the fabric. The shoe has two layers however, and are still quite usable. The rips are due to the technical nature if the trails I ran, not any fault of the shoes.Bottom line: Great shoes for trail running.

Great trail shoe
By Jeff Turman
Pro: This shoe has exceptional traction and foot stability, some of the best I've ever run in. The traction comes from a durable sole with large, deep lugs. I think these would be great for muddy runs, deep dust or duff, and snow. The foot is wrapped really tightly with what feels like a few layers of nylon. Overall the shoe feels very tight, almost glove-like. It can be really claustrophobic for your foot at first. That being said, this shoe has to be broken in a bit, and probably ordered a size up from what you typically wear for race shoes. It has a built in scree gator to keep out dirt from the top of the foot.Con: The shoe is really uncomfortable at first. It truly smarts on the outside of the foot while breaking in. I took them for an arduous 13 mile mountain run and they blackened a couple of toes and gave my toes some small blisters. But I actually expected worst. However, what remains truly annoying about these shoes is the built in scree-gator keeps me from accessing my laces. I don't even know why they put laces on these shoes. You can't actually access the laces except for the very top of the shoe. You'd be in trouble if you took the laces out. It might take you all day to get them in. I just loosened them as much as I could. And have left them like that since. The gator is really what keeps the shoe on the foot. And you can't adjust that, or raise it at all.Overall, these are a great shoe to run in (after breaking them in!) They take some getting used to, since they don't have the traditional lacing design. But you should definitely consider buying these if you take on seriously rugged trails. And I might say that these shoes are explicitly made for trails. They don't belong in your road-racing wardrobe.

Great shoes
By Doug Christensen
I needed a good shoe for Tough Mudder in July so I bought a pair of these for the event. I started training with these a few months ago and they fit very snug, they are comfortable and they have very good grip on the trails and help when going up hills. I highly recommend them!
