Great value

I miss plain old running shoes. Nowadays it seems like whenever I go to buy a pair, all I can find are "minimalist" shoes which offer little to no arch support. Maybe I'm in the minority but I really have no desire to wear neon colored foot gloves. I liked my basic, neutral running shoes the way they always were - solid and supportive. As a person with "difficult feet" I have to spend entirely too much time hunting to find something that works and it's frustrating.So here we have this new model from Asics, which offers a more traditional design with some modern updates. Like a minimalist shoe this one is lightweight and snug. However, like my favorite running shoes of old, this model also has a firm arch (check that silver arch plug that keeps it from bending in the wrong places) as well as solid springy cushioning. It's also got a removable insole which allows my medical orthotic device to slide in neatly. The material breathes well too. Plus - for those of us in the over-35 category - the colors are subtle and basic. No neon!For the price - and these are very reasonably priced - I haven't found a better buy. If you are looking for a basic neutral running shoe that supports your feet and looks like something an adult would wear, look no further. Good job, Asics.

Feather light but durable

I bought these shoes for my son and I have to say that I am completely impressed. They are feather light but they feel durable. I believe the shoes are only 3 ounces in weight. I would recommend these shoes to anyone. I got my order shipped out on the same day and received them exactly two days later. Thanks Amazon Prime.

Pleasantly surprised

The Lite-ning 4 is a perfect, glove like fit. I made the mistake and listened to a reviewer that suggested to order a 1/2-size larger. No, I sent it back. The size is true to fit.The easiest way to slip the shoe on is slide your foot all the way to the toe, then straighten out the back of the heal.Great shoe--super light....

Great shoe

My son is a senior in high school & I bought him this track shoe for his last year. He has worn them to 3 meets and says they work great. He normally wears a 12.5 but I only a 12 was in stock so we took a chance. They fit great so it worked out, at least for his final year when I don't expect his foot to grow much more. He loves the way they feel and the performance they give. He's a sprinter he feels confident in these spikes as his times are improving consistently.

Great backpacking shoe

I got these for a camp/backpacking shoe, and they are amazing! Super lightweight and comfortable. I use to carry a lightweight pair of flip flops and five fingers for stream crossings and lake swimming, but have since switched over to just these. They are lighter than my flip flops and amazingly versatile. They do run a bit big though, and I actually had to order the next size down from my standard Euro size.

New but old

These shoes provide a completely new approach to running. I'm told that this is a throwback to thenatural way that feet are supposed to work. I have had two knee surgerys and two hip replacementsand running was something I had given up on. I purchased these shoes simply as watershoes and plannedto walk on the beach. After a few times everything worked so well that I began to push the envelope,today I ran 3miles in a 35 minutes, I'm still cautious but being able to run at all is progress. Thechange in gait from heel to forefoot seems to put the shock on other areas and allows me to run withno knee swelling and no hip pain. I've still only logged 35 miles but am really happy with the resultsthus far.

Most comfortable shoe I have ever worn!

I purchased a pair of the Vivobarefoot Men's Ultra Shoe in Black several months ago in Washington, DC. It was not the "Pure" model. The difference in the "Men's Ultra" model and the "Men's Ultra Pure" model is the Pure model does not include the mesh inner liner. It is the outer shell only. However both shoes are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. I find the wider toe cage extremely comfortable, and it helps that the inner mesh liner is compatible with any of the Vivobarefoot Ultra Pure Shoes. I highly recommend this shoe for casual wear. You will not regret the purchase of this shoe...

BEST Running Shoes Ever

I've been running for over 25 years and always suffered from horrible blisters on my instep during long runs (6+ miles). I was convinced I'd never be able to run a marathon b/c of my blistering problem. These are the FIRST shoes I've had that I have not blistered ONCE...not even the first run straight out of the box. I've done over 100 miles on my current pair and they are as comfortable and supportive as ever. I'm training for a half now and planning for a marathon now! I'm filling up my closet in case they ever stop producing them!

Fit 9 1/2 perfectly. I have a wide toe box (forefoot) due to Gout. These sneakers allow me to open up the front but maintain a tight fit towards the ankle without feeling over tightened .

Flimsy design

The top of the sneaker has a mesh that's too delicate; after about three weeks of lite use the mesh wears out and you can see your sock through it. This sneaker isn't very durable. I've noticed the same design flow in other models of New Balance but this one is especially flimsy. Spend more money and get something better.

Treading Upon a Great Yellow and Black Marshmallow

Finding an adequately-cushioned running shoe is Nirvana for those of us pudgy dudes in the over fifty set. However, after having read some testimonials, and now in light of my own personal experience, I realize there can be too much of a good thing. I'm having a hard time believing I'm actually complaining about this.In spite of any knee/ankle/leg pain you might have experienced previously (moi), you'll probably find you can run a bit longer in these shoes. However, if you attempt to accelerate to an appreciable speed, you'll feel yourself fighting against the very aspect of these shoes which made them so desirable in the first place...the cushioning! A marked waste of energy, that.I kid you not, as I ran in these for the first time today, it was easy to relate the experience to running across the top of a gigantic marshmallow. I-COULD-NOT-ACCELERATE-MY-PACE! Or not by much, anyway. It was the strangest feeling. I also believe that if you have a smaller foot as I do (8.5-9), you'll find this particularly difficult. Though in defense of Asics, how could they have anticipated that a mythological creature with 8.5 to size 9 hooves rather than feet would attempt to run in their shoes?However, I am well aware of the lingering pain derived a few days ago from running on asphalt in a pair of Nike Air Pegasus 29 trail shoes. Definitely not meant for hard surfaces (Thanks for trying to warn me, Trak Shak). But I do not expect that this pain has been exacerbated by running in the Asics gel Nimbus 14s today. Time will tell.Just don't expect to break any track records in the gel Asics, but by all means, do expect a lessening of the painful fallout from running on hard surfaces. The Great Marshmallow is stubborn, true, but kind.They do what they're supposed to do...a rarity among consumer products these days. So a big five stars, baby!

One of the better shoes

I have always loves the Nimbus line when I first tried them back at Nimbus 11. Since then I am still happily spending the money on all new iterations of the Nimbus shoe. I run around 30-45 mpw in training season and these shoes are great. They feel lighter and are really breathable. I have always managed to get around a full years worth of wear in tear in the Nimbus shoes and I'm sure this one will be no different! If you are looking for a great shoe that can do the miles then buy this shoe.
