5A fine shoe
By J. Sommerville
This is a very good racing flat/light trainer for an efficient runner without gait issues. I have raced and trained in a wide variety of Asics, Brooks, K-Swiss, NB, Hoka One-One; this is my current favorite for any race, tempo or track session up to 1/2 marathon (I am 155 lbs, neutral foot strike, 35-45 mi/wk). All feet are different of course, but this fits me very well, and the midsole feels somewhat forgiving, yet sensitive and flexible; shoe feels very light and rolls comfortably from midfoot to toe. I have only about 100 miles on it, so durability remains to be seen.

5Super lightweight comfort
By Kaliption
I have been running on new balance shoes for close to 10 years now. My last several pairs of shoes have been the 790 and 890 which I very much liked. The 1400 is very similar to the 890 in feel and size but they managed to make them lighter. They are quite flashy and a sharp looking pair of shoes, overall I am very happy with them so far, no issues in the couple runs I have taken them on.

3Not the minimalist marathoner's shoe I was looking for
By Bacci
As a minimalist marathoner who keeps switching between Five Fingers, Hattori (most < 14mi runs) and Kinvara (on long runs and very high volume weeks) my first reaction to the Virrata was "Hallelujah!" and I immediately bought a pair. After a week of running in them I can't say they're a clear winner however, I feel the sole is too thick (i.e. soft) and would have preferred a ground feel that's more similar to the firmer feeling grid type A5 (which has a 12-16mm sole compared to 18mm end-to-end on Virrata). I also don't like the goofy (thump-y, a bit like gymnastic shoes) sound the soles makes on hard even surfaces, which Hattori owners will recognize. Durability of the upper mesh has been the biggest issue I've had with Kinvaras, not sure if the Virrata's 2-mesh design will be any better. It does feel more breathable and airy than the Kinvara's and certainly the Hattori's.The difference between 4mm (Kinvara) and 0mm (Virrata) heel-to-toe drop is immediately noticeable feeling more natural, but I could also feel my calves getting tired at the end of a 21mi long run. Not sure what I prefer for those type of runs yet.In short I think it's great to see Saucony continue to release minimalistic shoes in general and fill the gap between Hattori and Kinvara specifically, but the Virrata is too soft and cushiony for me. I would have preferred a beefed up version of the Hattori. Considering the commercial success of similar shoes to the Virrata (like Newton's MV2), I'm sure many others will disagree though.

5Only Shoe That's Ever Made Me Faster
By DallasLonghorn
I have been through 5 pairs of Saucony Kinvaras, and eagerly awaited this shoe as one with more forefoot cushion but zero drop. That's a perfect combination for neutral runners - I can't believe this is the first shoe to include that combination. I was definitely not let down. I train heavily for triathlons and religiously monitor my heart rate and pace. These shoes are the first shoes I've ever worn that actually make me run faster over long distances. I'm not sure if it's the low heel profile that helps keep turnover high, the light weight, or both. Either way I typically 20 seconds per mile or 10 BPM lower in this shoe than in any of my traditional (non-zero drop) shoes. Unlike Vibram Five Fingers, you can run 15mi in these on pavement and not feel beaten up. Fantastic shoes!

5Great shoe
By Goshea
If you love zero drop but always wanted some cushion and not feel the road so much, this is the perfect shoe. Very confortable and breathable. Toe box could have been wider and I had to order a size 1/2 bigger than my usual Merrell (sp?). The other review is probably more spot on if you want to feel the road as a minimalist but if you are a zero drop person, you will love this shoe. The only other shoes I can compare it to with minimalist is Merrell Road Glove and Bare Access.

5MADE IN THE USA!
By DB BluBlock Productions
For starters, these are made in the USA.. and you can see it in the quality. These are an incredible buy even if you pay New Balance list price. The 10.5 4E are just that, no complaints in that department. I was concerned about ordering these but I figured that with free returns I'd give it a shot, and I'm glad I did... so order the true size that you normally wear.I beat these things up on some rough trails every afternoon, and on weekends if its nice and dry I take them trekking or trailblazing. They are VERY comfortable for running or walking, and breath very well causing minimal sweating. They weren't kidding when they said "delivers traction".. these suckers keep me on my feet on everything from slimy mossy rocks to wet mud covered wooden steps. The weight is also impressive. I took off my 1008 New Balance and threw these on for the first time and it was like they weren't even there. So far they still have the soft walking on air feel and I Have almost 100 miles on them.. we will see if how long they hold up.Something to note: If you have bad knees or constant pain in the knees on long hikes or trail runs, get these. The pain I was getting in my right knee was gone almost instantly after switching to these shoes. Get a pair!

3not wide at all.
By Hank Wordsmith
This shoe seems decent, but one big area of disappointment is the width. I ordered a 15 4E and it is no wider than the D width shoes I have. I layered the insoles of these over some D widths insoles, and some of the D widths were actually wider. Just to be sure, I also stacked some shoes sole to sole against these, and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference in width between either of them. One of the shoes I compared them against was a fellow New Balance shoe. I double checked the tag inside the shoe and confirmed it was a 4E. How disappointing.

2Cut Too Smal
By William A. Scharf
I should have listened to the customers who complained that the sneaker was cut too small. I ordered a 4E and it wasn't even close to being wide. I ordered this item with a walking shoe that fits fine. In the future I will pay more attention to the customer feedback.

5Fantastic spikes
By James R. Valadez
I bought these spikes to replace my old Adidas adiStar MD 05 spikes. First off, these spikes are incredibly light, especially compared to my old adiStars. The asics website says these weigh 5 ounces a piece, but they feel much lighter on the feet. If you use these spikes in competition, you will definitely get a mental boost from them. Secondly, I bought the green/yellow variant, and they are just as vibrant as the display image. Since I wanted a bright pair of spikes, I was happy to find this to be true. Thirdly, the spikes come with a cross country claw that can be used to turn them into cross country spikes. The claw is a yellow plastic star that fits into the bottom of the shoe, with special golden spikes to be inserted into the plastic claw. However, I would not recommend them to be used in this fashion since I don't think the hard plastic on the bottom of the shoe won't hold up very well under cross country conditions. Racing flats should be racing flats and track spikes should be track spikes, but that's just my opinion. These shoes come with the slightly shorter than usual 3/16" pyramid spike as opposed to the 1/4", so be conscious of this fact when buying them. These are rated for the 3,200 m through 10,000 m, but these should work well for distances down to the 1,500 m. However, the material around the toe box is quite thin so take this under advisement. Once I run a timed mile in these I'll edit my review as to if I've changed my thoughts.EDIT (3/4/13):I finally got around to running a timed mile in these and they felt great. Once you put them on and start running, they feel like they disappear on your foot. While running in these, I PR'ed by 10 seconds even though I haven't really increased the intensity or length of my runs. In my opinion, these spikes are a good choice for down to the 1,500 m. Below that though, you'll want to get a middle distance spike for the tougher construction. Even though I'm pretty in shape right now, the day after the timed mile I could feel it in my ankles and my calves. I think this is mostly due to me changing my stride and converting to be a forefoot striker, but the shoes may also have contributed since they are so light because they don't have a lot of cushioning. I recommend doing some barefoot running on the grass or infield in order to get your legs used to the extra forces it will endure without cushioning from regular running shoes.A word of advice: Make sure you clip your toe nails when you get to run in these. The toe box material isn't that frail, but I'd err on the side of caution. After all, it wouldn't be fun to buy a new set of spikes and then tear the toe box with your toe nails.

5Outstanding spike!
By Grady Cash
This is an outstanding spike. It snugs up nicely on the foot without feeling tight or cramped in the toe box or mid foot. I tried on every spike in the store before settling on the Asics Spivey LD. On the track, it's the most comfortable spike I've ever worn. With other spikes, there is a very noticeable "spike" feel. That wasn't the case with the Spivey LD. After the first few steps, I forgot that I was wearing spikes and I could concentrate on the workout. Even though it's a long distance spike, I plan to use them for the 800m and 1500m. My old spikes were one of the top-of-the-line Nike models. The Spivey LD fits better and feels like it transfers more power to the track than the Nike. I have several racing flats and a couple of spikes in this weight range, but none have the feeling of power transfer that I get wearing these spikes.Equally important, after three hard workouts, I have no spike-related injuries. Usually, my feet and ankles get nagging little injuries when I switch over to spikes, but that has not been the case with the Spivey LD.Another reviewer mentioned that the spikes themselves are slightly shorter -- 3/16 instead of 1/4 inch. I ran tonight in the rain on a wet track. In my warm up racing flats, I could feel my shoes slipping a lot with every step. In the Spivey LD, I noticed no slipping at all in spite of the fact that puddles were forming on the track. I'm happy with the shorter spikes. The fit is true to size.

3Good looks, but not very comfortable
By Michael Soll
These Pumas are not as comfortable as other Pumas I've had (for instance Suede). So anyway, I think the shoes look good, but it is not very please to walk with them.

4For show not for B-boying/B-girling
By Zongnusia Yang
I do consider these shoes for looks, very fresh. What I like about these shoes, they're the lightest shoes ever. What I dislike it's not for Breaking, the soles of the shoes are slippery. But other than that if you don't B-boy or B-girl, then you're good to go. Otherwise I'd rate these shoes out of 5 if I didn't B-boy.

3Great quality but one fatal flaw
By Brandal
The overall design and quality of the shoes is fantastic. However the tread on the bottoms are in a diamond shape and they create a suction to any flat surface you step on. This is not a problem outside but inside it creates a loud annoying noise. I really wanted to love these but it's a deal breaker for me.
